Card Tech: Spirit Salvage

Use Timing [Main Phase] [Attack Phase]
Add one ARTS other than "Spirit Salvage" from your LRIG Trash to your LRIG Deck.

Spirit Salvage a simple 1 white Ener ARTs that allows you to effectively reuse an Arts you have already used. It can be easily splashed into many decks with the cheap cost and good effect. Should you add this card into your LRIG deck though?

Things to note:
  • (+) This card only costs one Ener, thus it can be easily paid for by any multi Ener/White cards in your Ener zone
  • (+) This card can both be used in the Main Phase as well as the Attack Phase, using it in the main phase can enable you to pull of main phase Arts twice on the same turn, while using it on the Attack Phase enables you to catch your opponent off guard.
  • (+) For Arts which have options such as Ancient Surprise where you choose one of the three effects to use, you can effectively use the 1st effect, followed by a spirit salvage and then followed by the 3rd effect, granting multiple uses of the same ARTs.
  • (-) The cost while it is 1 ener, is still white, thus this means you need a multi ener in your ener zone assuming you don't play a mostly white deck, which may not happen most of the time
  • (-) It is quite restrictive as it takes up a precious ARTs slot and depending on the deck you play, e.g. decks like Iona Ultima/Maiden and Ut'ulls, the Opened Ultimate Gate might not have ARTs slots to play this card as they only have 4 and 3 ARTs slots respectively.
  • (-) It is a Spec Selector card , while the reprint of it is a secret and may be hard/expensive to obtain for newer players
Possible combos with this card:
  1. Spirit Salvage + Rabiel, Protector of Holy Arts (and her kind)

Rabiel, Pencilrocket, Explosive Gun, Kareira, Water Phantom, Marigold, Natural Plant and Code Anti Golspe all have effects which when they are played send an ARTs with a similar colour as itself from the LRIG deck to LRIG trash to gain a beneficial effect. Thus, you can play these cards, send an ARTs to the LRIG trash, and bring it back with Spirit Salvage.
  2. Spirit Salvage can frequently be seen played in 2-stop and 3-stop decks due to the unusually high number of ARTs they play in their LRIG deck, usually 6 or 7, this brings about so much more options as teching like 5 good ARTs and a Spirit Salvage allows for you to adapt to the situation and decide which ARTs to utilize twice depending on the deck you are facing.
  3. Spirit Salvage + Chain mechanic. Might have to get back on this since the Chain mechanic was just recently announced but if i get the idea right, it could lead to insane ART combos.

When to use Spirit Salvage:

  1. Never Ever use Spirit Salvage to with a spell in the same turn unless you want to bait out Idol Defense which can easily negate your turn.
  2. In the situation where you have no more defensive ARTs left in your LRIG deck, but Spirit Salvage is, i would use Spirit Salvage during the opponent's attack phase to defend instead of during your main phase as this allows your opponent to play around whatever ART you salvaged.
  3. In reference to 2, if you know your opponent might be playing the ART Lock You, this is one of the few situations where you would want to use Spirit Salvage in the main phase instead.

TL;DR --> Spirit Salvage is a great card that can be splashed into any deck as it allows you to use ANY ART twice, allowing for some combo play. However it takes up a precious slot in your LRIG deck, so do take note esp for players who play level 5 LRIGs.
